Description

The Tillandsia Gardneri is a South American native with many different eco-types originating from Brazil. Eco-types are plants that are genetically the same but grow differently based on local conditions. Gardneri is characterized by wide, fuzzy, silver-green leaves. These striking air plants get their fuzzy appearance from their abundance of trichomes which also allows these air plants to be more drought-tolerant and prefer brighter sunlight. We have three versions of Gardneri available from seed collected throughout the Bahia State: Puerto Seguro, Rio Deudo and Morro Chapeu. Each has a slightly different leaf characteristic. Rio Deudo and Morro Chapeu feature stiffer leaves and a very upright form where Puerto Seguro tends to hold more leaves below the center growing point of the plant. Each is rare in cultivation and something unique to add to your collection.
